COVID-19

COVID-19

Fusion Core has been monitoring the situation with COVID-19 aka Coronavirus closely. Currently, there are no documented cases of COVID-19 in Morris County. Some schools will be closed for students while teachers report to help develop plans as recommended by the state Department of Education. So far, Jefferson Township schools are not cancelling classes or after school/weekend activities, which includes Fusion Core’s rehearsal Saturday, March 14th.

Currently, cases of COVID-19 are still rare in the U.S. — far fewer than seasonal influenza cases.

Drum Corps International has put out some very helpful tips that we will share with you here.

  • Everyone attending rehearsal camps in the coming days and weeks should follow these simple precautionary measures:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

  • Avoid kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils.

  • Don’t share water bottles.

  • Cough into your sleeve.

  • Don’t drink from water fountains.

  • Staff and volunteers who are not feeling well should communicate with their corps about attendance at corps functions.

As the coronavirus issue continues to develop, we will provide updated information as it becomes available. Here are several resources to stay abreast of the most current information available at the national and international levels (right click on link to open):

Of course, if you feel uncomfortable attending a rehearsal or sending your son/daughter to a rehearsal, we will respect your decision. Please make sure you are checking in with your caption head and tech and that you are doing the required video assignment so you can be prepared upon your return.

In closing, we would like to remind you to get educated information regarding COVID-19 and only trust accredited sites for accurate information.
