John “JJ” Johnson John “JJ” Johnson joins the Fusion Core administration team with more than two decades of dedicated leadership across the pageantry arts. Originally from Glenwood, Illinois, and now residing in Clermont, Florida, with his wife, Tamara, JJ built his performing foundation at Marian Catholic High School and Northern Illinois University, where he served as drum major and clarinet section leader.

JJ’s extensive executive and directorship background spans both the field and the floor. He is the founder of the Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps (four-time DCA South Class A Champions), co-founder of Solaris Performing Arts, former Executive Director of Nemesis Winds (two-time FFCC Independent A Champions), and currently serves as an Associate Director of Horizon Winds. Deeply involved across the activity’s major circuits, he serves as event staff for Drum Corps International (DCI), a Field Facilitator for Bands of America (BOA), and Timing and Penalties staff for the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC), where he previously served on the Board of Directors.

In his professional career, JJ brings over 25 years of IT leadership experience as the Vice President of User Experience at Harbor Global. He also serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. JJ is thrilled to combine his corporate operational expertise and all-age drum corps roots to help support the continued growth and excellence of Fusion Core.
