As the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the world, it became very clear that mental health was suffering from the affects of being isolated. Fusion Core was committed to providing an outlet. By following CDC guidelines, we were able to get outside by the end of the summer in 2020. One of our volunteers built a sink so members could wash their hands frequently, members filled out assessments and we took temperatures. Everyone wore masks, the brass had bell covers, we observed social distancing and amazingly so, we literally did not skip a beat throughout the entire time. Our season #Farther Apart Closer Than Ever was a special season for sure.

 

In 2021, we, along with several of the DCA corps, competed in a virtual season. While Covid-19 was getting more in control, we still were very cautious, and found a way to stay on our home bases to record our performances and compete virtually. We are very proud of the efforts of the DCA Administration and the Corps Directors and Administrators who worked closely to make a competitive season a reality. 

 

As we prepare for a regular competitive season, which will include indoor rehearsals, member safety is and has always been our main priority. The Covid-19 pandemic is still an ongoing concern and the risk of transmission remains. Vaccinations are helping slow the spread and limiting the severity of the illness; therefore we are requiring all members, staff and volunteers to be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination. If there is a legitimate medical reason, confirmed by a doctor, that prohibits vaccination, this can be discussed with a member of the administration.

 

There will be safety protocols in place which will include a Questionnaire prior to in person rehearsals and temperature checks. Masks will be worn while indoors and social distancing will be observed. Please note that we are required to adhere to local and state guidelines and things may change which will require us to be flexible as we work through these challenging times.
