Hello Fusion family and friends!
By now, many of you may have heard that DCA announced the cancellation of the 2020 season after a unanimous vote of all DCA corps. It goes without saying that the Fusion Core leadership team is saddened to hear this news.
That said, the cancellation of the 2020 DCA season does not mean that Fusion Core is cancelling their season. We have been forced to think outside the box and have devised a plan for 2020 that involves each and every one of you. The challenges being presented are unprecedented, but we also recognize that with unprecedented challenges come unparalleled opportunities.
Our first priority is the health and safety of our members, and that will never change. Every step of the way, we will ensure that our members and staff are committed to our policy of ‘safety first,’ including a commitment to following protocols and federal/CDC guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Despite the cancellation of the 2020 season by DCA, we will produce a show in 2020 and we’d love for you to be a part of it! The 2020 season will be primarily a musical production. The visual component will not include drill, but will be wholly comprised of a choreographed presentation by the 2020 Fusion Core Guard! We will share more details about our plans for the 2020 season on a Zoom conference call with the full ‘Core’ on Wednesday, April 1.
For some, the elimination of drill may be a disappointment. For those among us who are reluctant to participate in the absence of a traditional field drill performance, please do not overlook the opportunity we have here.
• There will be no cap on membership for 2020, meaning the musical quality of the 2020 production is unlimited and could rival any show that that Fusion Core has done before.
• You will be a part of something historically significant and you’ll have a positive impact on drum corps and the marching arts as a whole for years to come.
• If you choose to participate in 2021, you’ll have a huge leg-up for the season (hint: the music for 2021 will be the same as the music you will play in 2020). If you do not plan on participating in 2021, don't let that stop you from participating in 2020.
Please consider joining our zoom meeting April 1st and listen to our vision for the 2020 season. Details to follow.
