The true meaning of spring.......rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth.
This is such an uncertain time and uncertainty is scary for sure, but it sometimes can have a beautiful outcome. I'm not saying that COVID-19 is beautiful at all, but what I am saying is that maybe this will give the world a much needed reset.
I've been trying to tune in to the stories about the positive effects of this virus. We all know very well the negative effects, which is why it's important to stay home and do our best to flatten the curve but is there anything positive to take from this? I'd like to believe that every negative has some type of positive.
Here's my take away. The fact that the waters in Venice are clearing is amazing. They say that there's been a decrease in air pollution and the clean up of the air is possibly also saving lives.
An article on the science alert website stated "The two months of pollution reduction has probably saved the lives of 4,000 children under 5 and 73,000 adults over 70 in China. That's significantly more than the current global death toll from the virus itself.
Although this might seem a little surprising, it's something we've known about for quite a long time. Earlier this month, research suggested that air pollution costs us three years, on average, off our global life expectancy.
Even such a tiny silver lining can hardly make up for the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic but these preliminary numbers demonstrate that this global health disaster is an opportunity to assess - which aspects of modern life are absolutely necessary, and what positive changes might be possible if we change our habits on a global scale".

Please stay tuned to our blog. We are going to be a little unconventional these next few weeks. We'll be sharing different articles and blogs on things that are not always directly related to the drum corps activity, but don't worry. We'll also be sharing plenty of drum corps related information as well.
Be safe everyone!!
